JobPack was designed to minimize the need for paper on the shop floor. JobPack electronically assembles and distributes all the information typically associated with a paper-based job jacket; such as, process sheets, part drawings, setups, tooling sheets, work instructions, QC spreadsheets, etc.
| On the floor, JobPack provides the user with a multi-view screen of all the documents associated with the current job. To review a document more closely, the user only needs to double-click it and a full screen view is provided. There is no need to remember the name of the document file or flip through a hardcopy job jacket. Just double-click the document of interest on the multi-view screen. It’s very simple and intuitive.

Once in full screen, the document can be zoomed, panned, and even red-lined and sent back. All documents are viewed in their native format - no need for expensive authoring applications on the shop floor. And all the viewing capability is built right into the software.
JobPack is more than just a fancy document packaging and viewing system. For CNC machine shops, JobPack seamlessly links with DLoG’s DNC software, allowing simple downloading and retrieval of part programs from the machine tool’s control. JobPack also keeps an accounting of what is going on with the job package and the documents within it. Want to know how many times a job package was requested by the floor? Want to know how many times a particular part program was downloaded to a CNC machine tool? JobPack tracks this type of information and can provide it to you via a simple query. JobPack also provides control of job packages. For instance, job packs can be made available to work centers based on job priorities, so that the work center will be presented with work in a priority order. Furthermore, if a document is changed on the floor then electronically sent back to engineering for approval, anyone on the floor that accesses the document before it is approved will automatically be notified that they are working from an old copy.
JobPacks are pre-assembled before distribution to the shop floor using DLoG’s JobPack Manager module. JobPack Manager is a relational database system for assembling, controlling, distributing, and electronically transmitting manufacturing data. The assembly process includes initializing the job pack and defining the operations required to make the part, and then associating with each operation the documents needed to perform that operation.
JobPack Manager is typically run on workstations in the front office. Several individuals may be involved in the job pack assembly, such as someone from Engineering Design, someone from NC programming, someone from Quality - anyone who controls pertinent information that needs to go into the pack.
With the optional JobPack Exchange module, job data can be automatically imported from your company's MRP or ERP business system, so as your company books orders and releases them to manufacturing production a job pack can be automatically generated and available for release to the shop floor with all the manufacturing data assembled and ready to go.

Also available as an optional module to JobPack Manager is DLoG's AutoCompare utility. AutoCompare will automatically provide a list of ASCII text files (such as, CNC part program files) that have been modified on the floor. It can be configured to generate the list once a shift, once a day, once a week ... however often you choose. Clicking on any listed file will bring up a side-by-side view of the changed file against its original with the changes between the two highlighted. |
